The Birthday that Never Was

Setting: Small town situated on the east coast of Virginia referred to as “Ham Capital of the World”

Timeline:
February 13th, Friday: 4 days before birthday
My about to be 12 yr. old daughter says she wants snow for her birthday.

February 17th, Tuesday: day of birthday
Daughter gets her wish with 5.5″ of snow, all schools/offices closed, birthday dinner celebration canceled and rescheduled for Sunday evening the 22nd.

February 18th, Wednesday: 1 day after birthday
All schools/offices closed due to snow

February 19th, Thursday: 2 days after birthday
All schools/offices closed due to snow

February 20th, Friday: 3 days after birthday
All schools/offices closed due to snow

February 22nd, Sunday: 5 days after birthday
Weather conditions poor with low temps and black ice roads, dinner celebration canceled and rescheduled for Thursday evening the 26th.

February 26th, Thursday: 9 days after birthday
Second snow storm with 8″ of snow, all schools/offices closed, birthday dinner celebration canceled and rescheduled for Thursday evening the 5th of March.

March 5th, Thursday: 16 days after birthday
Wintry mix of sleet, ice, and snow, schools 2 hr. early release, birthday dinner celebration canceled and NOT rescheduled.

Final thought: When the hot and humid weather of August is upon us…reschedule birthday dinner celebration.
