United in Competition

As I spend the day watching some great NCAA games for men’s and women’s I reflected on how competition motivates and unites us.  Perfect strangers hugging and high-fiving in the stands. Chance acquaintances by seat location becoming co-grievers when their team misses that final shot.  Even I am part of the game as I yell from my coach.  This beautiful game with 10 people all fighting over a little orange ball and the number of fans who there or not are all fighting right along with them.

Competition unites us and when our team wins, we win.  When they lose, we lose.  We celebrate with every basket and we lament at every foul called. We.

I have enjoyed today’s games even though my team isn’t even playing.  I still rejoice and mourn with them and tomorrow night WE will be on the court when my team the Lady Huskies take the court.  I love college basketball, March Madness, and being part of something bigger than me. WE.

Go Huskies!!
